Today, the Millburn-Union Whole Foods Market (at 2245 Springfield Avenue) opened a brand new barbecue restaurant called BBQ, touted to bring “the most highly coveted traditional BBQ flavors of Kansas City, Memphis, and the Carolinas, to Jersey.”

The restaurant features a selection of smoked meats (ribs, sausage, chicken, pulled pork, and even seitan), sandwiches, mac & cheese platters and salads — as well as lots of “fixin’s”  including buttermilk biscuits, sausage gravy, corn on the cob, creamy slaw and sweet potato fries — plus a wide selection of beer and wine, including those from New Jersey breweries Kane and Carton.

All menu items meet Whole Foods Market’s quality standards and “come from trusted suppliers that are committed to the highest regard for animal welfare,” according to a company spokesperson.

The space is great for family dining and watching sports on the large screen televisions, but BBQ also offers take-out and catering service.
