Two Maplewood Teens Arrested in Montrose School Break-in

South Orange Police arrested two 16-year-old Maplewood residents last Monday after officers responded to an alarm that was activated at the Montrose School on Clark Street at around 2:05 a.m., according to the police blotter.

The officers caught the teens as they tried to flee the scene. Both were brought to police headquarters and processed, said police.

Theft of bicycle
A Church St. resident stated that sometime between 6:30am and 7:45pm on 7-29-14 an unknown actor(s) removed her navy blue Trek mountain bike which was locked from her front porch.

Theft of package
A Grove Rd. resident stated that sometime during the day on Monday 7-28-14 an unknown actor(s) removed an article from a package that had been delivered by UPS to her front porch.

Theft from vehicle

A Centre St. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 7-27-14 an unknown actor(s) had smashed the front passenger’s side window to her vehicle (2012 Honda) and removed a backpack from the front seat that contained a Laptop and text books. The vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time of the incident.

Shoplifting/arrest
Devine Peebles, a 20 year old East Orange resident was arrested on 7-29-14 at approximately 1:20pm after officers responding to a call of a shoplifter having fled the Rite Aid located the subject with the proceeds (stolen pre-paid phone) a few blocks away on Kilburn Pl. The subject was arrested without incident, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.
