Affordable housing applications are now available for Third & Valley, the 215-unit apartment building in South Orange.
The building, which also has 3,000 square feet of ground floor retail and office space, is set to be completed in the first quarter of 2016, said Township Administrator Barry Lewis at the most recent Board of Trustees meeting.
(As for the commuter parking deck, Lewis said the Village is pressing for a January 1 opening.)
Most of the apartments are “luxury” units and will rent at rates accordingly. However, 22 units will be set aside as affordable housing units. (Of that number, 10%, or 2 apartments, will be set aside for Veterans). The program is administered by an outside agency, Piazza Associates, which will coordinate the application, eligibility determination and lottery process.
Residents interested in applying for one of the affordable apartments can find more information and an application on the Village website.
Check the building’s website for more information on amenities. There is also a Facebook page. Amenities include a fitness center, landscaped courtyard with outdoor kitchen and pool, clubroom and a “yoga lawn.” The website also highlights the building’s green bona fides.
