Seton Village’s second annual “Light Up the Holidays in Seton Village” enjoyed beautiful weather and big crowds on Friday, December 4 for celebration that included a tree lighting, visits with Santa, food and music.
The celebration, at Irvington and West Fairview Avenues in South Orange, featured performances from Columbia High School graduate Denzel Wilson; the CHS a cappella group; Parker4Ave, an independent singing group from CHS; and the children of the First Presbyterian Church’s Weekday Cooperative Preschool.
Santa’s sleigh (er, BMW) was driven by Village President Sheena Collum, who helped Santa light the 20 foot. Santa himself posed for photos (see below).
Seton Village restaurants served special meals based on the holiday foods from their home countries, and offered 15% off customers’ checks for the evening. Munchie’s served a stewed pot roast beef customary in Jamaica; Lalibela cooked up Doro Wat, the Ethiopian dish traditionally eaten on Christmas Day; Guanatico’s prepared stuffed pork loin from Costa Rica; and Inkosi Café featured their southern signatures: salmon, crab cakes, sweet potato tarts, and apple tarts.
The tree lighting celebration is sponsored by South Orange Village and the Seton Village Committee.
