September 25 at 2PM: La Cinematheque Film Club: Israeli Filmmaker Series

Israel’s history is long, complicated, and often controversial. The Film Club’s Israeli Film Series presents a chronological approach to the history of Israel and Israeli cinema over the last thirty years. The series showcases films from five of the most important Israeli directors. Through the cinematic language of the filmmakers, members will get to know a very complex culture, one that is often at the center of conflicts with its middle-Eastern neighbors. October 8 at 8PM: An Evening with Richard Thompson- Solo Acoustic

Richard Thompson has been named one of the “Top 20 Guitarists of All Time” by Rolling Stone magazine and does not disappoint. He has received Lifetime Achievement Awards for Songwriting on both sides of the Atlantic—from the Americana Music Association in Nashville to Britain’s BBC Awards as well as the prestigious Ivor Novello Award. October 20 at 7:30PM: Classic Albums Live—Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon

November 26 at 8PM: Giants of Jazz 19 Honoring Jimmy Cobb

If the world of Jazz crowned their legendary musicians, Jimmy Cobb would be sitting atop a throne. But for now, he sits behind a collection of drums that have seen him recording and sitting-in with the likes of Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Earl Bostic, Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn and almost any Jazz legend you can think of. He is the last surviving musician that played on Miles Davis’ groundbreaking album Kind of Blue, which is the best-selling album in Jazz history. Now, his fellow musicians will be performing in honor of Jimmy at Giants of Jazz 19 in a star-studded night of music that celebrates his 60+ years in the business.
