There are thousands of beautiful homes in South Orange — some are known for their grandeur, other for their historical value, still others for their gardens or unique architecture.
Know a gem of a house in South Orange? Why not “nominate” it to go on tour?
The South Orange Historical and Preservation Society is seeking homes for its bi-annual “Gems of South Orange House Tour,” which will be held Saturday, May 16 from 11 am. – 4 p.m. The society is holding an open call for tour homes through February 28.
Think your house is not grand enough? Fear not, says the SOHPS:
Contrary to what you might think, tour homes need not be designer showcases. While they should be aesthetically pleasing and generally well-kept, homes may be of interest for a variety of reasons:
- Historical homes
- Homes whose prior residents feature in the history of the town
- Good examples of a particular architectural style
- Good examples of sensitive additions/renovations/restorations
- Homes with interesting collections or gardens
If you know of a great home, whether yours or someone else’s, email info@sohps.org or call the SOHPS at (973) 763-2310.
