What to Do in Town This Weekend — August 22-24

Note: The Village Green learned late Friday night that Dr. Oz will NOT be coming to The Able Baker — or anywhere else in Maplewood — on Saturday.

Yes, TV’s Dr. Oz is is doing a “bus tour” and Maplewood is one stop he is hitting. The good doctor will be at The Able Baker in Maplewood Village on Saturday, August 23 at 12:30 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes. There, he will meet and greet people and ask about their health and wellness goals.

Millburn Sidewalk Sale

Summers in the Gazebo

The Summer Concert Series at the Springfield Avenue Gazebo comes to a close on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. with the 4th Street NiteOwls, a vintage jazz and “washboard swing” ensemble. Read more here.

Downtown After Sundown

Live music in the heart of South Orange Village Center every Friday and Saturday through Labor Day from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Spiotta Park and on Sloan Street. Grab some dinner, grab a lawn chair and get set for some great live music. Downtown After Sundown is produced by the South Orange Village Center Alliance.

  • Friday, August 22 from 7:30pm-10pm, Ben Williams on Sloan St. and swing with Western Spur in Spiotta Park.
  • Saturday, August 23 from 7:30pm-10pm, NoName James & Butterball on Sloan Street and 80’s Rock from the Accelerators in Spiotta Park.

Gallery 1978: Promises, Promises: Artifacts and Evidence

Promises, Promises: Artifacts and Evidence, an art installation that stands against human trafficking by artist Anne Dushanko Dobek, continues at Gallery 1978 at 1978 Arts Center, 1978 Springfield Ave. in Maplewood through August 31. Gallery Hours During Exhibitions: Saturday & Sunday, 2-5 p.m.
