Brooklyn native Magie McGowen is fully embracing her life as a Maplewood resident by opening Home Sweet Home Tattoo at 10 Burnett Avenue.
McGowen (formerly Serpica) has been working in NYC, including Staten Island, for two decades, building an impressive body of work. But the commute is a drag — particularly as she has centered her life with her husband Brian and their blended family here in SOMA.
Fun fact: Magie’s husband Brian McGowen is the muralist who did the Springfield Avenue mural next to HLS Juice Bar. The McGowen’s also have championed lawn art, facing a run-in with code enforcement (read more here).
On January 21, McGowen celebrated the grand opening of Home Sweet Home Tattoo with a ribbon cutting. In attendance were friends and family, as well as Mayor Nancy Adams, Township Committee members Vic DeLuca and Dean Dafis, and Springfield Avenue Partnership Executive Director Nicole Wallace.
