[Editor’s note: Marcy Thompson is the co-founder and director of Studio B.]
As the co-founder/director of a small, community-based, arts non-profit, I can’t begin to put a value on the Village Green, and its role in advancing my organization’s mission.
First of all, by providing a resource for information in my community, the Village Green allows me to keep up to date on issues that will affect my business. The local climate in Maplewood and South Orange is favorable to the arts, but even changes on the smallest level can impact how I run my organization, and where my efforts can be most productive.
The fact that my events are covered in the Village Green is incredibly important; I depend on reaching a wide, diverse audience so that my events are accessible to the entire community. This is possible only through the quality information that the Village Green provides its readers – both through the site itself, the events calendar, and through its social media reach.
As an organization that depends on spreading the word, I truly appreciate the fact that Village Green runs reviews of my events. Not only can I depend on the community to hear about the high quality I do, but these reviews are critically important to my organization’s ability to raise grant dollars.
Finally, I depend on the Village Green as an advertiser. I have purchased banner ads on the Village Green home page on a number of occasions, and have enjoyed wide exposure because of it. This is an incredibly important tool to any business who needs a steady growth in customers.
Mary Mann and Carolyn Maynard-Parisi have become a true asset to our community through their tireless work steering the Village Green forward; my reliance on their work comes not only as a local business owner, but also as a citizen.
