MAPLEWOOD, NJ, August 17, 2026 – Morrow Memorial United Methodist Church is delighted to announce the appointment of Cynthia Lindsay as its new Director of Family Ministries. Lindsay brings hands-on experience in children and youth ministry, a passion for justice-oriented faith formation, and theological training rooted in a deep love for the local church. Her relational, inclusive approach to ministry aligns closely with Morrow’s identity and mission.

Lindsay is currently pursuing dual degrees at Princeton Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity and a Master of Christian Education and Spiritual Formation, with an anticipated graduation in 2028. She is a declared candidate for ordained eldership in the United Methodist Church. She previously served as Director of Children and Family Ministries at Hopewell United Methodist Church, where she led children’s sermons, oversaw Sunday school, and coordinated volunteers. Other prior roles include Ministry Administrative Program Coordinator at Kingston United Methodist Church, Ministry Intern at Hamline Church United Methodist, and Course Facilitator with the Polaris Young Adult Leadership Network. This summer she served as the chaplain at Camp Pecometh in Maryland.

A graduate of Augsburg University, where she earned bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Law and in Religion with a focus on Interfaith Studies, summa cum laude, Lindsay traces her approach to ministry to formative experiences serving young people. As a volunteer tutor in Minneapolis, she worked with students from immigrant families who spoke many languages and came from a range of cultural and religious backgrounds. She also taught for Urban Plunge, a program that brings church youth groups into the city to engage questions of justice, privilege, and urban ministry.

“What drew me to Morrow is its commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and justice, especially for children and youth,” Lindsay said. “Families today are navigating so much, and I believe the church can be a place where children and families slow down, build authentic relationships, ask the hard questions, and know that they are loved by God exactly as they are. Every child deserves to know that their voice matters and that the church can be a place of joy, belonging, and spiritual growth.”

Lindsay begins her ministry at Morrow Church today. She and her husband, Nolan, a student at Drew Theological School, will reside at Morrow’s parsonage on Lenox Place.

Lindsay was selected following a search led by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee and Senior Pastor Rev. Danny Yang. The process drew applicants from across the country and included in-person time with Morrow’s children and youth.

“From our first conversations, Cynthia stood out for how deeply she is aligned with Morrow’s mission, our theological direction, and our Methodist tradition,” said Rev. Danny Yang, Senior Pastor. “She pairs genuine warmth and care for young people with real organizational gifts. I am excited for our children, youth, and families to get to know her, and for everything she will bring to this next chapter of our ministry.”
