Police Arrest Man in Robbery at Maplewood’s Sudz King, Clerk injured

Police arrested a Newark man for allegedly robbing the Sudz King laundry on Irvington Avenue on Friday, according to Sgt. Christopher Black.

A clerk told officers that a man came into the store at around 9:30 p.m., went behind the counter and removed money from the register and then attempted to leave. As the employee tried to stop the man, he pushed her to the ground, injuring her wrist, said Black.

The man fled towards Irvington. Det. Barry Zepeda of the Irvington Police Department found a man matching the clerk’s description, and the clerk then positively identified him. Police took 24-year-old Julian Herring of Newark into custody and charged him with robbery and CDS offenses, Black said.

May 20, 2015; Burglary to Auto/Auto Theft; Between 2 and 7 AM a vehicle parked on Parker Ave was entered and a key stolen. The key was for a Honda Civic that was parked in the driveway. After stealing the key to the second vehicle the Honda was stolen.

May 21, 2015; Burglary; Between 2 and 2:45 PM a home on Fernwood Rd was entered and electronics stolen from the home.

May 21, 2015; Burglary; At approximately 5 PM the police department was contacted by a resident of Ridgewood Rd that had come home and observed three males run out of the front of her home. A witness observed the three males carrying pillow cases that appeared full and entering a vehicle. The witness called the police and was able to give a description of the vehicle, suspect’s descriptions and followed the vehicle until it was able to be stopped in Irvington. Upon stopping the vehicle one of the suspects was able to flee the scene. Two males from Newark, Willie Mclamb, age 46 and Jermaine Williams, age 42 were arrested and charged with burglary. A search warrant was granted for the vehicle and proceeds from the home were found in pillow cases inside the vehicle.

May 21, 2015; Theft; At approximately 6 PM a 10 year old was in the rear of Seth Boyden School when he was approached by a 15 and 16 year old male that grabbed his phone out of his hand and fled with it. The two juvenile actors were located and arrested. The juveniles were found to be Newark and were charged with the theft.

May 21, 2015; Theft from Auto; A purse was stolen from a vehicle parked in the driveway of a Lindsley Ave residence. The purse was located a few houses away missing cash and credit cards.

May 21, 2015; Auto Theft; Between 2 and 4 PM a Dodge Intrepid was reportedly stolen out of a driveway on Essex Ave. the vehicle was later recovered in Newark.

May 22, 2015; Motor Vehicle Theft; At approximately 8 Am a dirt bike was stolen out of shed in the rear of a Berkley St residence.
