Teens and tweens get to draw their own characters and create their own stories in a class offered by the Maplewood Recreation Department.

In the Explore Comic Book Art class, home-schooled students ages 6-12 learn how to plan, draft, and draw their own comic books as they learn the basics of comic book making and develop their skills in art and storytelling. At the end of the program, students bring home copies of their comic books to share with family and friends.

Program Instructor: Vicki Arlein created this literacy-based art program while teaching at the Seth Boyden Demonstration School in Maplewood. She currently teaches her comic book art program in several after school art centers in the area. She is also an artist and published horticultural illustrator.
