The Jefferson Playground Project — an effort by the Jefferson School PTA to raise money for new playground equipment — launched a new online campaign this week called “the Question of the Week.”
This week’s question is “What do you LOVE about playgrounds?” The question is asked in a short video edited by Deirdre Bell, the mother of Jefferson 3rd grader Grace Bell.
The Project Team is asking Marshall and Jefferson parents (or anyone interested in contributing) to take videos of their own children answering the same question and post the video on social media, tag the Jefferson Playground Project and tag a friend to do the same.
The Team plans to introduce a new question each week — or every two weeks — as a way to increase the fundraising effort’s online presence, and to promote sharing with family and friends beyond the immediate Marshall/Jefferson community.
The Jefferson Playground Project launched last fall with the formation of the Project Team (Mary Ellen Dawkins, Jen Klepesch, Joanna Klein, Sara Knutsen and Karen Palaitis). The team then set up a gofundme page and a Facebook page.
The Project got a boost in January with the debut of a three-minute promotional video and the “Pennies to Play” in-classroom change drive. The video, edited by Deirdre Bell, was shot on the grounds of Jefferson School in December by four Jefferson dads with professional media experience — Alexis Robie, Ben Niles, Dave Noll and Evan Fleischer. More than 30 Marshall School and Jefferson School students were interviewed for the video.
Thus far, the team has raised more than $33,000 toward the $100,000 goal, with $10,000 of that amount seeded by last year’s PTA.
