The following story is by Marc Gold, Assistant Principal of Maplewood Middle School.

On Friday, June 5, 2015 we held our fifth annual Maplewood Middle School Boys’ Night Out. Because of the hard work of Positive Behavioral Intervention System (PBIS) committee and volunteers, and the generous donation of time and energy, and dedication to our kids, the night was a great success!

Our school’s turnout was excellent. We had around 40 participants ranging from grades 6-8, all of whom spoke highly of the night. The focus of the event is to provide our young gentlemen with exceptional resources that will instill confidence, focus, and goal setting as they move through adolescence.

The young gentlemen interacted in small group settings where they participated in sessions with members of our community including presentations and hands-on workshops that were both engaging and informational. Boys’ Night Out gave the students the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of skills, insight, and performances that otherwise would not have been available to them. The students were also able to observe positive role models who continue to contribute to their community throughout a lifetime.

On behalf of the Positive Behavioral Intervention System committee and Maplewood Middle School, we would like to offer our most sincere thanks for the time and energy that all of our volunteers devoted to making our Boys’ Night Out event such a success.
