Report: Stark Academic Disparities Remain Between Black and White Students in South Orange-Maplewood
Calling the findings of the report “atrocious”, the Black Parents Workshop said SOMSD “did little to comply with our settlement agreement.” Superintendent Taylor defended the district’s work on access and equity, despite the district’s own reporting on ongoing disparities in state test scores, suspensions, advanced math enrollment and failure rates.

South Orange-Maplewood BOE Votes on Two Safety Policies, Revised Transportation Policy
The three action items passed the first reading 8-0 with no discussion; Board member Courtney Winkfield was absent. These policies are yet to be finalized and will be voted on after a second reading and discussion at a future meeting.
