From South Orange Trustee Deborah Davis Ford:
The Essex County Freeholder Housing & Community Development Oversight Committee is partnering with several municipal libraries to co-host a program for SUN representatives to present the Sun Initiative.
The Stabilizing Urban Neighborhoods (SUN) Initiative, is a program that helps home owners in foreclosure repurchase their homes with mortgages they can afford.
SUN is a program of Boston Community Capital (www.bostoncommunitycapital.org) a non-profit organization with a 30-year track record of financing affordable housing, child care facilities, schools, community health centers and community programs. SUN’s funding comes from individual investors and foundations, the U.S. Department of Treasury’s CDFI Fund and East Boston Savings Bank. SUN is an Equal Housing Opportunity program. Since its launch in 2009, SUN has invested nearly $100 million to prevent the foreclosure or eviction of over 600 families.
