On Saturday, Maplewood will get a glimpse into its past when a time capsule buried 150 years ago is opened.
The time capsule was buried on the grounds of the former Hilton United Methodist Church at Boyden Avenue and Tuscan Rd., at a site that is now slated to become an apartment building. During demolition, workers found the capsule at the bottom of the church’s cornerstone.
The ceremony, open to the public, is on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hilton Branch Library at 1688 Springfield Avenue.
On hand will be local officials, the grandson of a former township engineer, town historian Susan Newberry, and others.
