Election South Orange

Bob Zuckerman Announces Candidacy for South Orange Board of Trustees

Bob Zuckerman announced on March 4 that he was stepping down as Executive Director of the South Orange Village Center Alliance. Today, he announced the reason: He’s running for elective office. From Facebook:

My dear Facebook family – you’ve waited patiently for the second part of my announcement, so here goes. I am proud to announce that I will be a candidate in the May municipal election for the South Orange Board of Trustees! The Board of Trustees is essentially our city council. As you know, I’ve been working hard over the past 5 1/2 years to improve our downtown, and I believe we have a lot to show for my efforts. Now I want to take that experience to make a difference for all of the residents, businesses and neighborhoods of our amazing Village. Of course, I am aware of the historic nature of my candidacy as I will be the first openly LGBT Trustee ever elected in South Orange, so I hope you’ll help me and my team make history by supporting my campaign!

There are three seats on the 6-person South Orange Village Board of Trustees up for election. Candidates have until March 11 to file. Election day is May 14.

This story will be updated. Zuckerman reports that he will be announcing running mates this evening (March 6).
