As South Orange inches ever closer to its first-ever PlayDay South Orange, organizers are getting the word out about the impact on roads and traffic.
PlayDay will run from 1 to 6 p.m on Sunday, September 21. “This is the largest public event in South Orange and will allow our entire community to literally play in the street with athletic tournaments, fitness activities, table games, street games, inflatable games, art installations, music, food and dance,” reports Matt Glass, South Orange Village Center Alliance Chairman.
The following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic as of 6 a.m.:
- Sloan Street between South Orange Avenue and 2nd Street
- Vose Avenue between South Orange Avenue and Taylor Place
- Village Plaza
- 1st Street between Sloan Street and the Sloan Street lot entrance
Closed to vehicular traffic as of 8 a.m.:
- South Orange Avenue between Ridgewood and Valley
- Church Street between South Orange Avenue and the SOPAC lot entrance
Valley Street will remain open in both directions.
All streets will re-open between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
All parking lots (except the lot next to Ridge Tire) will be open and offer free parking for shoppers and event attendees.
The South Orange Jitney will run every 30 minutes on its regular commuter routes and will take event attendees to and from the heart of the event.
