Think the Maplewood Township Police Department does a fantastic job, or do you believe there’s room for improvement? Here’s your chance to have your voice heard.

As part of its program to achieve accreditation by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, the department is undergoing an on-site assessment, according to a notice posted on the department’s website.

The accreditation program requires agencies to comply with best practice standards in five basic areas: administrative, personnel, operations, investigative, and arrestee/detainee.

Members of the public have several different opportunities to comment specifically regarding how the department complies with the standards:

  • Call 973-761-7868 on Thursday, June 5 between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Comments will be taken by the Assessment Team.
  • Email the police department at tdimaggio@twp.maplewood.nj.us. For more information, contact Sgt. Thomas DiMaggio at 973-761-7916.
  • Written comments may be emailed to Harry J. Delgado, Accreditation Program Manager, hdelgado@njsacop.org, by phone (856) 334-8947, or to the New Jersey State Association of Chief’s of Police, Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission at 751 Route 73 North, Suite 12, Marlton, NJ 08053.
