It’s the weekend! Celebrate by getting out and enjoying all that The Villages (and beyond) have to offer. Don’t forget to visit the Pumpkin Patch at Wyoming Church!

rent party

Friday night is Rent Party night! The monthly party was founded in 2009 to benefit food pantries and fight hunger in SOMA. This month features live music from Big Radio, Fairmont, and Sad About Girls. This party, including beer, is sure to entertain.

Eaglemania

Go see Eaglemania on Friday night at SOPAC. EagleMania has dedicated itself to faithfully reproducing the sound of The Eagles for the past three years. Since their inception, EagleMania has been thrilling audiences all over the East Coast with their stunning five part harmonies and their uncanny ability to emulate The Eagles note by note. Their show consists of all of the Eagles greatest hits, as well as some of the solo work of many of the individual members such as Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and Joe Walsh.

Renaissance

Symphonic rock pioneers Renaissance, featuring singer Annie Haslam, reunite for two unforgettable evenings at NJPAC this weekend. They will perform “Ashes Are Burning,” “Song for All Seasons,” “Northern Lights,” “Sounds of the Sea,” highlights from Symphony of Light and many favorite classics. Patrick Moraz, former keyboardist with YES and The Moody Blues, will make a special guest appearance with the band.

Health & HarvestFest on Springfield Avenue

Take the family to the Health & HarvestFest on Springfield Avenue on Saturday. This year HarvestFest joins with the Maplewood Loves Wellness Health Fair to create one wonderful family event. For  kids, there’s pumpkin painting, a bounce house, an instrument ‘zoo’, pony rides, face painting, glitter tattoos, and crafts. There will be  wonderful retail vendors selling a great variety of merchandise, health and wellness information and vendors, plus local merchants and non profit companies will be on site so adults can also learn more about what’s happening in  town. Everyone can enjoy live local bands playing and performances and demos by  Springfield Avenue Merchants. The Healthy Cooking Contest takes place at noon and includes free samples! This year’s entrants are Pimento Grill, The Rack, Park Wood Diner, Abril Cocina, Lickt Gelato, Maplewood Pizzeria, Holly’s Fish Fry and returning champ Winchester Gardens.

cocktails and canvas

Get your friends together and enjoy a Cocktails & Canvas night at Express Yourself Studios in Maplewood on Saturday night.  Bring your bottle of wine (or favorite beverage) and explore your creative side while having a night out with friends! Cocktails & Canvas Workshops are suitable for all levels, the main objective is to have fun. You will be guided through the process, everyone leaves with a finished piece of Independence Day-themed artwork!

greenwood gardens

On Sunday, take a guided 45 minute tours of the 28-acre historic and nationally significant landscape known as Greenwood Gardens in Short Hills. Greenwood Gardens combines formal gardens, open meadows, woodlands, and pasture and is surrounded on all sides by protected parks and wilderness. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the garden is described as, “a time capsule of New Jersey’s gracious past and a haven of tranquility in the busy New York metropolitan area.”
