Cedar Ridge Cafe chef/owner Paul Holtzman took the ALS Awareness “Ice Bucket Challenge” on a hot Tuesday afternoon.
The Ice Bucket Challenge — wherein people dump (or have dumped) a bucket of ice cold water on their heads — was launched by the ALS Association to raise money and awareness for fighting Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Folks are asked to complete the challenge or to donate money to the ALS Association – although many people seem to be doing both. Incredibly, since the challenge began, the ALS Association has received $31.5 million in donations compared to $1.9 million during the same time period last year. Donations are from existing donors and a whopping 637,527 new donors.
Cedar Ridge’s Joe Ramaikas did the honors of drenching Holtzman, who had been challenged by Jaime Haber from the Milk Money clothing store.
To pay it forward, Holtzman challenged his sister and nieces as well as his brother and sister-in-law. He said he will also be donating to the association.
