The Achieve Foundation of South Orange & Maplewood raises funds to support public education in the community. Achieve funds provide classroom grants, volunteer tutors, professional development, family outreach, and technology and facility improvements to enrich the learning experience at all grade levels.
In 2014, Achieve distributed $67,000 for 63 teacher projects — but 30 teacher grants are still waiting for funding to make them a reality. You can contribute to the grant project of your choice, through January 31.
Donate to the Achieve Annual Appeal by visiting the Achieve Foundation website. Scroll through the teacher projects in the PDF document below to see what still needs funding. Or make a donation to the general fund, so your dollars can go where they are most needed.
Here are examples of projects that still need funding:
- A CHS science teacher is looking to fund “Genius Hour,” where students “pursue a project of their own choosing” to inspire them to be more productive and passionate
- A technology teacher at CHS wants to create a digital photography lab to bring the high school program up to today’s tech standards
- An ELA teacher at Seth Boyden wants to keep the 4th grade classroom libraries up to date with “the newest, must-have titles, all-time favorite series, and simply the best of the best of kids’ books.”
- A SOMS music teacher wants to expand the school’s World Drumming class, which has expanded in popularity and needs more drums to meet the demand.
