On October 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Maplewood Memorial Library, 51 Baker Street, the Maplewood Garden Club invites you to come and learn about the role that perennials play in the design of residential gardens.

Ruth Clausen notes that while woodies form the structure, complementary perennials can provide colorful flowers along with form, color, and texture from foliage over the whole season. The cultural needs of individual species and selections will be examined in sun and shade, wet and dry soils, and in terms of maintenance. Potential pest and disease problems, especially with deer, will be explained.

Ruth was trained in horticulture in the UK and has written gardening books including Perennials for American Gardens, Dreamscaping, 50 Beautiful Deer-Resistant Plants and Essentials Perennials.  Books will be available for her to autograph.
