Montclair Art Museum (MAM) is thrilled to announce that it has been honored with the awards for “Favorite Adult Art Class” and “Favorite Art Camp” for the second year in a row in the 2016 JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Awards. The Awards, which take place annually to honor the work of New Jersey’s vital, vibrant, and diverse arts community, saw more than 21,000 ballots cast statewide—the greatest number of votes since its inception in 2008. MAM was among more than 110 arts organizations and downtown districts nominated for the Awards in 16 categories.
“We’re so grateful for this designation and to be among the top arts organizations in the state,” said Lora Urbanelli, MAM Director. “It is a great honor to be nominated for these Awards, and to receive such overwhelming support from our peers and audiences.”
MAM garnered almost 5,000 votes and was honored Wednesday at the New Jersey Conference on Tourism at the Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. Fellow Northern New Jersey winners include:
- Favorite Large Performing Arts Center: New Jersey Performing Arts Center–NJPAC (Newark)
- Favorite Small Performing Arts Center: South Orange Performing Arts Center–SOPAC (South Orange)
- Favorite Theater to See a Musical: Paper Mill Playhouse (Millburn)
- Favorite Symphony/Orchestra: New Jersey Symphony Orchestra–NJSO (Newark)
- Favorite Choral Group: Newark Boys Chorus (Newark)
- Favorite Film Festival: Montclair Film Festival (Montclair)
- Favorite Theater Camp: Paper Mill Players (Millburn)

About the Museum
The Montclair Art Museum, a notable, community-based institution with an international reputation, boasts a renowned collection of American and Native American art that uniquely highlights art making in the United States over the last three hundred years. The collection includes more than 12,000 objects: paintings, prints, original works on paper, photographs, and sculpture by American artists from the 18th century to the present, as well as traditional and contemporary Native American art and artifacts representing the cultural developments of peoples from all of the major American Indian regions.

The Montclair Art Museum is located at 3 South Mountain Avenue in Montclair, N.J. Information and directions are available on the Museum website, montclairartmuseum.org, or by calling 973-746-5555. MAM is open Wednesdays through Sundays, Noon–5 p.m., and on the first Thursday night of the month (October–June), from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. It is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and major holidays. Museum admission is $12 for nonmember adults, $10 for senior citizens and students with I.D., and free for members and children under 12.
Free First Thursday Nights and Free First Fridays are free for everyone. The Store at MAM is open during gallery hours and has extended hours until 9 p.m. on Free First Thursday Nights.
