In partnership with the Maplewood Village Alliance, Springfield Avenue Partnership and South Orange Village Center Alliance, the new SOMa Creative Services Directory will be distributed to local businesses in South Orange and Maplewood electronically once a year.
And you can get your creative business listed if you respond by July 15.
“We already have 22 responses, which is great!” said Nubia DuVall Wilson of Cielo Consulting, who explained that she came up with the idea “because I would speak to businesses downtown and owners would say they needed to find various creative service companies but didn’t know where to turn locally and NYC-based companies were high priced.”
The directory is aimed at serving as a guide for new and long-standing business owners who want to discover other independently-owned, South Orange/Maplewood-based businesses that can support their needs for services such as photography, design, digital media, marketing, business coaching, etc.
Industrial businesses and contractors, such as painters and electricians, should contact the village alliances directly as that directory already exists, said DuVall Wilson.
Qualifications for this new directory include:
1. A SOMa resident who is a business owner and business is based in SOMa or surrounding town (home offices qualify).
2. Business must be able to provide services to SOMa downtown businesses (e.g., photography, graphic design, legal)
3. Non-SOMa business owners that are independently owned will be considered based on the uniqueness of service (this directory is first and foremost a means to support and connect SOMa business owners with each other).
