“Without Medicaid, my life would be over,” said JESPY House client Debbi D. “The support I receive from JESPY House—funded through Medicaid—allows me to live independently, manage my health, and participate in meaningful activities. Losing Medicaid would devastate me and many others like me.”

The four other members of the Maplewood Township Committee, including Mayor Nancy Adams, have endorsed U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill, as have more than 100 other Democratic elected leaders in the 11th Congressional district.

“During my eight years in office, I’ve worked to make life better for all of South Orange’s residents. I’ve helped make our budgeting process more transparent and our finances more stable, … But I’m most proud of the work I’ve done in ensuring that future residents will continue to benefit from the investments we have made in our village.”

“I am excited that my open seat will create opportunity for others to raise their hands and bring their unique voice to our government. … I believe in competitive elections, giving voters a choice, and I hope that more than one candidate will seek this position and run in the primary.”

“There’s nothing inevitable about America,” said Kim. “There’s nothing that we are destined for that will just occur on its own. If we have concerns about what’s happening, then the question is, what are we gonna do about it? What role are we going to play?”

The MDC and U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill distanced themselves from conditions that were apparently placed on a Maplewood mayoral candidate.

TC member Deb Engel, who seconded Adams’ nomination, said she had been courted for the Mayorship but lost votes when she failed to endorse Mikie Sherrill for NJ Governor.
