Slow Food Northern NJ is teaming up with Dan Lipow, owner of DiningWild, for a foraging walk through the South Mountain Reservation. The hike costs $10 and proceeds will benefit Slow Food Northern NJ’s school and community garden fund.
The three-mile hike is scheduled for September 13, 2015 (rain date Sunday, Sept. 27), from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Lipow, a local wild food enthusiast and
forager, will lead the walk on Sunday. The hike will be moderately paced, and will start at the dog park (just off Crest Drive) in South Mountain Reservation. The walk will not be called off in the event of light rain or drizzle.
Hikers should bring snacks and plenty of water, plus bags or containers to fill with bounty from the park. Foragers will find seasonally available wild food, mushrooms, nuts, roots and greens.
The walk is limited to the first 25 people who register. Tickets must be bought in
advance, no later than midnight Sept. 12. Go to slowfoodnnj.org to buy tickets online.
