Man Arrested for Threatening Another With a Large Nail

The South Orange Police Blotter story that caught our eye this week: a man who was arrested for threatening another with a nail.

South Orange Police report that Gabriel Hidalgo, a 34-year-old East Orange resident, was arrested on August 2 on Valley Street in South Orange after threatening to harm another man with a large industrial nail.

8/11/2014
Burglary to apartment
An Irvington Ave. resident stated that sometime between 8:00am and 2:00pm on 8-9-14 an unknown actor(s) had forced open the front door to his apartment. No items were removed from the premises.

 

Criminal mischief
An unknown actor(s) had sprayed painted graffiti on a garage located on Fourth St. The graffiti was observed on 8-8-14.

 

Burglary to dwelling 
On Sunday 8-10-14 at approximately 1:20pm officers responded to a call of a burglary that had just occurred to a dwelling on Woodland Pl. The resident stated that he observed an unknown actor in his home and upon doing so the actor fled the dwelling. The actor described as a black male approximately 6″0″ in height with a lean build, approximately 170 pounds, shoulder length dreadlocks tied in a ponytail, clean shaven, and was observed to be wearing a red baseball cap and a red t-shirt. The actor was also believed to be operating a black BMX style bicycle. Unknown at this time what items were removed however, several rooms had been entered. The victim stated that he heard the door bell ring prior to observing the actor inside the dwelling. The actor had gained entry via a first floor window. The Detective bureau is investigating the incident.

 

8/7/2014
CDS/arrest
Tallins Saintsulne, a 19 year old Maplewood resident was arrested on 8-7-14 at approximately 1:30am after officers responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle parked on Park Pl. Upon arrival officers discovered the subject to be in possession of CDS (marijuana) and as a result of same the subject was taken into custody and processed accordingly.

 

8/4/2014
Theft from vehicle
A South Orange Ave. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 8-1-14 an unknown actor(s) had entered her vehicle (Honda) and removed a GPS unit and a duffle bag. There were no signs of a forced entry into the vehicle.

 

Theft from vehicle
A West South Orange Ave. resident stated that sometime between 8:30am and 9:00am an unknown actor(s) had entered her vehicle and removed a GPS unit, an old cell phone and approximately $20 in change. The vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time of the incident and there were no signs of a forced entry.

 

Theft of bicycle
A Warwick Ave. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 7-30-14 an unknown actor(s) had entered his garage through an unlocked side door and removed a silver 18 speed men’s bicycle.

 

Juvenile arrest/CDS
A 16 year old South Orange juvenile was arrested on 8-2-14 at approximately 9:40pm after an officer discovered that the juvenile was in possession of CDS (marijuana) while in a park adjacent to the Community Center. The juvenile was transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

 

Terroristic Threat/arrest
Gabriel Hidalgo, a 34 year old East Orange resident was arrested on 8-2-14 at approximately 7:30am after officers responded to a call on Valley St of a subject threatening harm to another male while in possession of a large industrial nail. Officers responding to the scene arrested the subject at the scene and recovered the large nail which was used during the threat. The subject was taken into custody, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

 

7/30/2014
Theft of bicycle
A Church St. resident stated that sometime between 6:30am and 7:45pm on 7-29-14 an unknown actor(s) removed her navy blue Trek mountain bike which was locked from her front porch.

 

Theft of package
A Grove Rd. resident stated that sometime during the day on Monday 7-28-14 an unknown actor(s) removed an article from a package that had been delivered by UPS to her front porch.

 

Theft from vehicle
A Centre St. resident stated that sometime during the overnight hours of 7-27-14 an unknown actor(s) had smashed the front passenger’s side window to her vehicle (2012 Honda) and removed a backpack from the front seat that contained a Laptop and text books. The vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time of the incident.

 

Juvenile/arrests
Two 16 year old Maplewood residents were arrested on 7-28-14 at approximately 2:05am after officers responded to an activated alarm at the Montrose school located on Clark St. The officers were able to apprehend the two juveniles as they attempted to flee the scene. Both juveniles were transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

 

Shoplifting/arrest
Devine Peebles, a 20 year old East Orange resident was arrested on 7-29-14 at approximately 1:20pm after officers responding to a call of a shoplifter having fled the Rite Aid located the subject with the proceeds (stolen pre-paid phone) a few blocks away on Kilburn Pl. The subject was arrested without incident, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.
