Man Says Teen Shocked Him with Electrical Device in Attempted Robbery in South Orange

A West Orange resident was approached by a teenager on W. Montrose Avenue who demanded his cell phone before shocking him with a handheld electrical device, police said. The man said that on March 17 at around 9:10 p.m. the teen, described as black, about 17 years old, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and riding a BMX style bicycle, demanded the man’s cell phone while shocking him, said police. After a struggle, the teen rode away on his bicycle east on W. Montrose Avenue. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Robbery/arrest
David Boone, a 19 year old South Orange resident was arrested on 3-23-16 at approximately 9:35am after officers responded to a call of a theft with force of a cell phone at the Rite Aid. Upon arrival it was discovered by officers that the subject in an attempt to flee the scene of the theft had punched the victim that was attempting to stop him. The subject was arrested at the scene, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.

Theft/arrests
Donovan Murkey, an 18 year old Newark resident along with Al Shukar Champion also an 18 year old Newark resident were arrested on 3-23-16 at approximately 2:54am after a Township Parking authority officer observed the subjects enter parked vehicles on Holland Rd. Officers responding to the scene with the assistance of Newark Police observed the subjects one block away in Newark and apprehended same. Both subjects were transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly. Proceeds from the vehicles were found in possession of the actors.

Theft of bicycle
A Newark resident stated that sometime between 6:00pm on 3-17-16 and 10:45pm on 3-18-16 an unknown actor(s) had removed his blue and silver Roadmaster bicycle from the main train station. The victim stated that he had locked same to the bike rack at that location.
