South Orange Police arrested two teenage girls from East Orange in a reported strong-arm robbery of a woman on Prospect Street on Thursday. The woman alleged that at around 9 p.m, two girls knocked her to the ground and took her pocketbook, said police. A responding officer caught the two a short distance away while they were attempting to run away. The woman’s pocketbook was found near the scene with some items, including her phone, missing, police said.
The woman positively identified the two teens, who were charged with robbery and remanded to the Essex County Youth House in Newark.

Attempted theft of vehicle
A Hixon Pl. resident stated that sometime during the evening or overnight hours of 10-9-15 an unknown actor(s) had attempted to steal his vehicle (1996 jeep) which was parked in the street. The driver’s side door lock was damaged and the steering column had been broken.
Theft of packages
An Irving Ave. resident stated that sometime between 10-7-15 and 10-9-15 an unknown actor(s) removed items valued at over $300 from boxes that were delivered to her residence by UPS. The empty boxes were found discarded in the victim’s front bushes.
Attempted burglary to dwelling
A Brookside Rd. resident stated that on sometime during the day on 10-8-15 an unknown actor(s) had pushed open an unlocked first floor window. Entry was not gained.

Shoplifting/arrest
Shanika Dessein, a 20 year old Union resident was arrested on 10-8-15 at approximately 3:40pm after she was observed by Pathmark security concealing numerous articles of merchandise inside her clothing and attempting to exit the store. The subject was arrested at the scene, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.
Theft from vehicle
A Radel Terr. resident stated that sometime between 2:30am and %:20am on 10-7-15 an unknown actor(s) had entered her unlocked vehicle (2000 Mazda) which was parked in the driveway and removed a flashlight and a phone charger.
Theft of package
A Wyoming Ave. resident stated that on 10-8-15 she had a UPS package containing a clothing article removed from her porch.
