With Maplewood Middle School Assistant Principal Marc Gold departing for Frelinghuysen Middle School in Morristown, Mike Healy will take on the role of interim Assistant Principal at Maplewood Middle School as of Friday, September 23.
Healy is the former Assistant Principal at South Orange Middle School and Columbia High School. Healy retired from the South Orange-Maplewood School District earlier this year.
Healy will bringing his magical ways to MMS (the administrator was know for his magic shows at CHS) until a new Assistant Principal is named. In announcing Healy’s stint, MMS Principal Dara Gronau hinted that it may be a case of “now you see him, now you don’t” as a new permanent Assistant Principal could be appointed shortly.
“We will provide MMS with an update regarding our permanent assistant principal position next week,” wrote Gronau in an email on September 22.
In the meantime, students report that Gold became emotional during a clap-out today as the student body bid him a fond farewell and wished him the best of luck in his new position.
