The “Transitioning to College” workshop at CHS to be led by Maureen P. Tillman, L.C.S.W. has been postponed. There is no new date as yet for the workshop.
On Saturday, January 28th from 10-11:15 am join Maureen P. Tillman, L.C.S.W. for a workshop on preparing your child for a successful college transition. The workshop is free-of-charge and will take place in the Columbia High School library at 17 Parker Ave, Maplewood, NJ.
Learn how you can give your teens crucial life skills that will serve them well on the college terrain. Highlights will include the latest research about the overall health of college students and the stressors they face during the freshman year. Armed with this information, parents and teens can realistically and confidently prepare for the transition. The session will also address critical issues for parents who have teens with learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD and mental health issues, and we’ll discuss parents’ changing roles during high school and beyond.
Maureen P. Tillman, L.C.S.W., an adolescent and adult psychotherapist for forty years, created College with Confidence thirteen years ago when she experienced an increase in students for therapy who had a crisis in college and needed to return home. The students were devastated and the parents were confused and extremely worried. Maureen decided to create a proactive college transition service for high school students, as well as help college students become emotionally stable and resilient and decide on the best path moving forward.
