Black History Month

As part of Black History Month, elementary school-age kids took to the mic and shared art, essays and poetry on topics ranging from racial and gender equality to environmental protection and the importance of education. 

The creation of this art exhibition is the subject of the NAACP Image Award-nominated PBS American Masters Series documentary, “Danielle Scott: Ancestral Call”, which follows the artist as she traces her ancestors’ lives through the Atlantic Slave Trade era.
