Maplewood Memorial Park Conservancy

The Valley St. Pathway Project, based on original designs by the Olmsted Brothers and Brinley & Holbrook landscape architecture firms, provides a route through the park, while making the playground and other amenities accessible to walkers.

The grant will help create a landscaped entryway along Oakview Avenue and Valley St. and a new pathway that will complete the interior walking loop around the park, allowing a safe and pleasant place to walk and access the playground, courts, and ballfields.

Local parks and gardeners are abandoning the practice as the “emphasis is shifting toward maintaining habitat for pollinators year-round.”
