Get your kids out of the house this Saturday and have them work off all that post-Halloween-candy-powered energy with a “Pumpkin Smash.”
The Columbia High School Key Club is hosting the Pumpkin Smash in Memorial Park on Valley Street in Maplewood from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
When not smashing pumpkins, moms, dads, friends and kids are invited to enjoy warm apple cider, donuts, kettle corn, face painting, and arts and crafts.
Here’s the release from Maplewood Township:
After Halloween, a lot of people need to get rid of their pumpkins. Let’s put your old pumpkins out of their misery for a good cause! Kids will be given plastic bats to smash all pumpkins in a safe, controlled environment. All donations received will go to the Eliminate Project, a project that seeks to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus by immunizing mothers and their babies. Bring all your pumpkins if you would like to participate in the Pumpkin Smash and make a donation for this cause.
Join your friends for warm apple cider, donuts, kettle corn, music, face painting, arts and crafts, and pumpkin smashing! Kids of all ages are welcome to participate in the festivities. We look forward to seeing you there!
