The return of First Night Maplewood South Orange is going strong as BCB Community Bank formally awarded organizers a $5,000 check and came aboard as title sponsor on Monday night, December 1.
On hand to present the check were John Amato, William Pawlo, Claudine Baptiste of BCB Community Bank. There to receive the check on behalf of First Night Maplewood South Orange: Michael and Amy Goldberg, Sandi Goodman, Scott and Kathy Greenstone and their children.
First Night Maplewood South Orange is returning after a two-year hiatus. The event will be headlined by the Jersey Shore rock and roll party band, The Nerds, who will be joined by a variety of entertainers and artists including a DJ, a magician, circus acts, Reptile Discovery, a hip hop dance group, Mr. Ray, and more (see the ever-growing roster here).
First Night offers family-oriented, alcohol-free activities for both adults and children.
It will be held at Columbia High School, 525 Academy St. Maplewood, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on December 31.
A volunteer Board comprised of residents from both Maplewood and South Orange is organizing First Night. Funding for the event is made possible through title sponsors including BCB Community Bank and Atlantic Health/Overlook Medical Center, as well as the Township of South Orange Village, the Township of Maplewood, and the South Orange-Maplewood School District.
“I am thrilled to help bring First Night back to our community,” said Michael Goldberg, President of the First Night Board. “The prior Board laid a solid foundation upon which we could re-establish the event. I am so excited to have so many new volunteers who want to bring the event back and take it to the next level. With our generous sponsors and incredible headliner, this will be the best New Years Eve ever.”
