Columbia High School graduates from the Class of 2015 will be attending 183 different universities and colleges this fall, from the nearby Seton Hall University (five students attending) to the far-flung University of California, Berkeley (one student).
A total of 428 graduates will be attending institutions of higher learning this fall. District spokeswoman Suzanne Turner noted that this number did not include students taking a “gap year” or entering military service. The official number of June 2015 graduates from CHS was 462; add in the four graduates from this August and the number rises to 466. Given these numbers, the rate of CHS 2015 grads attending institutions of higher learning this fall is nearly 92%.
Forty-three graduates will attend Union County College, 26 will attend Rutgers University-New Brunswick, 23 will attend Essex County College, 15 will attend the County College of Morris, and 12 will attend William Paterson University of New Jersey.
Four CHS Class of 2015 graduates will be attending one of the seven “Ivy League” schools this fall, with two at Cornell University and one each at Harvard University and Columbia University. Three students will attend “Seven Sisters” schools, with one each at Bryn Mawr, Vassar and Mount Holyoke.
