U.S. News & World Report’s America’s Best Colleges has again ranked Seton Hall University among the top tier of national universities, leading Catholic universities, and to its list of “A-Plus Schools for B Students.”
For the 2016 edition, Seton Hall’s ranking rose for the sixth consecutive year to 123rd among the nation’s four-year public, private and for-profit national universities. In the 2015 edition, Seton Hall was ranked 126th.
The 2011 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s America’s Best Colleges, which marked the beginning of President A. Gabriel Esteban’s tenure as president of Seton Hall, ranked the University at 136th. Since then, Seton Hall University has risen 13 places in the prominent academic ranking.
During President Esteban’s tenure, Seton Hall has enrolled five of its largest freshmen classes in more than 32 years while increasing its academic selectivity: the SAT scores of incoming freshmen has increased nearly 100 points while the percentage of freshmen ranked in the top 10 percent of their class has increased from 24 to 35 percent. In addition, the University has made significant investments in infrastructure, spending more than $130 million in the past five years on campus facility upgrades; has announced plans to create New Jersey’s only private medical school in partnership with Hackensack University Health Network; and has launched a new College of Communication and the Arts.
President Esteban noted, “This recognition of the University’s steady rise in academic prominence is well deserved and greatly appreciated – the seeds we’ve sown here at Seton Hall have begun to take root and are now flourishing. Our students graduate to employment rates nearly 20 percent higher than the national average and are prepared to take their place in the world as servant leaders.”
In recent years, the University has received numerous accolades from leading organizations. For the 19th consecutive year, the Princeton Review has named Seton Hall one of the best colleges in the nation, Forbes has rated Seton Hall among the top 11 percent of colleges in the nation, and Money magazine ranked it in the top 8 percent. In addition, the International Business Times has named Seton Hall one of the “Top 5 Universities for Undergraduate Internships,” and Washington Monthly rated Seton Hall 77th of all national universities in its “Best Bang for the Buck” ranking, which, according to the magazine, “is based on the economic value students receive per dollar.”

Seton Hall is providing over $75 million in financial aid to students this year and approximately 96 percent of undergraduate students will receive direct aid from the University. This continued recognition from U.S. News validates the tremendous progress Seton Hall has made in recent years.”
In addition to its rise among the top-tier national universities, Seton Hall was again named to U.S. News & World Report’s list of “A-Plus Schools for B Students,” featuring the top 100 national universities for students that are, according to the magazine, “trapped in the GPA of a B student” and whose “heart is set on a great college.”
