Kate Langhart will discuss attachment and parenting on Jan. 6 at the Parenting Center.
The Adoptive Parents Group of the SOMSD Parenting Center is presenting “Slow & Steady Wins the Race: Attachment and Parenting: A Talk & Discussion with Kate Langhart, LCSW,” on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at the Parenting Center, in the Board of Education Building at 525 Academy Street in Maplewood.
The Adoptive Parents Group, which was formed more than a year, is sponsored by the Parenting Center and run by Jami Thall, an adoptive parent in South Orange and a member of the Parenting Center and by Lorraine Caputo, a Licensced Clinical Social Worker, specializing in work with adoptive families, and a member of the Parenting Center.
The group meets monthly to provide support and to discuss the unique experience of raising adopted children. “We are bringing in speakers this year to enrich our understanding of developmental issues and how adoption has an impact on those issues,” said Caputo.
“Our speaker, Kate Langhart, LCSW, specializes in working with adoptive families and is specifically trained to address attachment issues in an adopted child’s development. Meetings are open to all adoptive parents who live in South Orange or Maplewood.
