The Pierro Gallery at the Baird Center in South Orange will host “Pages and Explorations,” a Book Arts exhibition, from December 10-18 from 11 .m. to 4 p.m. (closed Sunday.)
The exhibition will feature stories and pages in progress before they become a book.
In addition, the gallery will hold a Book Arts Roundtable Holiday Sale of handmade objects by members of the Book Arts Roundtable, on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Available for sale: Handmade Books, Paper Art, Etchings, Gift Tags and Cards,
Photography, Beaded Objects, Glass Beads, Leather goods and Hand painted Silk Scarves.
In conjunction with the exhibition, the gallery will hold the following workshops:
1. Dec. 11 at 11:00am, “Make a Mini Pocket Travel Journal with Debbie Livingston”
In this workshop you will learn how to make a simple soft covered 3 hole pamphlet stitch journal with a Turkish folded map.
2. Dec. 12 at 11:00am, “Making a Collage with a Story with Liz Demaree”
We will make three collages using three different elements; background characters, people and symbols. When they are finished we will create a story/stories about them in a unique fashion.
3. Dec. 13 at 1:00, “Make a Carousel Book with Lynne Buschman”
For all workshops:
Materials will be supplied, but if you wish to make a holiday themed book, bring papers and rubber stamps. Some book binding experience helpful.
Fee: $5.00 per workshop, supply list for Making A Collage with a Story will be sent when you register.
