On Monday, February 2, the Maplewood Garden Club will welcome guest speaker Patsy Nance of the Newark Museum Speakers Bureau to present the program Flowers in Art, highlighting works from the Newark Museum’s collection of painting, sculpture, folk art, and decorative arts. Nance will explore how flowers have been portrayed in art from Egyptian times to the present day and how artists have used visual language to capture the essence of flowers.

According to a release from the Garden Club, “the discussion will reveal the aesthetic and cultural priorities that define each artist’s unique vision.”

The public is welcome and light refreshments will be served. For more information, visit maplewoodgardenclub.org.

The Newark Museum, New Jersey’s largest museum, is located at 49 Washington St. in Newark’s Downtown/Arts District. For more information on the museum, visit NewarkMuseum.org.
