From the Maplewood Garden Club:
At 7:30 p.m., on Monday, December 7, at Maplewood Memorial Library, the Maplewood Garden Club invites Patsy Nance to show us how flowers in their many forms have been portrayed in art from the Newark Museum’s collections. Flowers in gardens have been a perennial theme for artists from many cultures for centuries; their beauty has timeless appeal. She will examine floral paintings and drawings from colonial botanical explorers to modern artists, digging into the aesthetic and cultural priorities reflected in each artist’s unique vision. Patsy, a docent at the Newark Museum, is a long-time member of its Speakers’ Bureau.
