July 4th is almost here! The good folks of the 4th of July Committee of the Maplewood Civic Association are busy behind the scenes, ensuring that this year’s celebration — the town’s 114th — will be the best ever.

New events this year include a Classic Car Show and a Food Court!

Returning are classic favorites including the Zerbini Family Circus, live music, face painting, boardwalk games, ice cream eating contest, baking contest, pet awards, and more.

Here’s what’s new:

A Food Court in Memorial Park! Vendors will operate all day providing a food zone with sheltered and open-air tables and chairs. The aim is to have a day-long fun-filled fair environment with food, attractions and entertainment.

The First 4th of July Car Show will take place 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4th, 2016 in Memorial Park. Car owners can enter their vehicles free online at www.maplewoodcivic.org. Trophies will be awarded. Cool cars, movie cars, celebrity cars, antique cars, collector cars, muscle cars, motorcycles and others are invited.

According to the 4th of July Committee, “The aim is to have a day-long fun-filled fair environment with food, attractions and entertainment.”

What else is different? All activities will be held in a cordoned off Memorial Park, and paid wristbands will be required for entry to the park all day.

Consider volunteering for the event – you’ll get a commemorative T-shirt and free admission to all activities. An event of this magnitude can’t happen without the assistance of people willing to help out. Find out more here.

Tickets are available online; group discounts will be available ahead of the event. Buy in advance for great prices and to guarantee your circus time. All circus 4-packs include FREE fireworks and entertainment tickets! Tickets will will be full price at the gate on July 4.

Opening ceremonies will be held at 8 AM in Ricalton Square, and the fireworks display begins at 9:15 PM.

See you on Independence Day!
