Following are Columbia High School Principal Elizabeth Aaron’s opening remarks for the school’s 2016 musical production “Beauty & the Beast.” Click on any image below to see a photo gallery courtesy of Noelle Harteveld.

My name is Elizabeth Aaron, and I am the proud principal of Columbia High School. It is my pleasure to welcome you into this beautifully restored and historic auditorium, a space in which students have been pursuing their theatrical and musical passions since it was opened almost 90 years ago. It is a space where we come together as a community to celebrate a long tradition of promoting our students as citizens of our school and the world, and in which we continue to foster our students’ talents and passions.

Please take time to read your playbill. Directors and producers Tricia Benn, Bethany Pettigrew, Michael Healy, and Rob Cohen and music directors Jamie Bunce and Peter Bauer truly needed a village to make this evening’s fairy-tale village come to life. As always, Maplewood and South Orange provided it.

We are ever grateful for the parents, school staff, and others who were our village for this production. You have worked so hard to support our students and we thank you.

There are no finer, brighter, harder -working, more thoughtful, or more talented stars than our students at Columbia High School. I am so proud of what you are about to see. Thank you for being our guests this evening!

Remaining performance dates  for “Beauty and the Beast” at CHS are March 18 & 19 at 7:30 p.m. and March 20 at 2 p.m. Purchase tickets online here: https://colhs.booktix.com. But hurry — they’re going fast!
