If you’re on social media in South Orange and Maplewood, you must have noticed a spike every Wednesday this month when locals take to Floods Hill and start livestreaming video, posting to Instagram and flooding Facebook with images of summer fun.
What’s going on?
It’s the Summer Nights concert series on Floods Hill, organized by the South Orange Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs and South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC). The concerts have been bringing locals out in throngs and you’ve got two more chances to join in the musical fun:
- Wednesday, July 27, Max Headroom (80s covers)
- Wednesday, August 3, Rock the Hill (Garage Bands)
Concerts run from 7:30 to 10 p.m. There are food trucks, plus art projects for kids (from 6-8 p.m.). Bring a chair, a blanket, some refreshments and friends and enjoy the summer nights.
