Palmer’s Sweetery & Cafe, a new bakery in Maplewood Village, opened its doors over the weekend to a warm welcome from locals.

Since its first soft opening day Saturday, the bakery has been very busy, said Kia Palmer-Sherwood, co-owner with her mother, Joan Palmer. On Tuesday morning, Palmer’s was offering banana and corn muffins (the latter topped with sea salt), cheddar pepper biscuits, a variety of cookies — and of course, coffee (Irving Farm).

Palmer-Sherwood said that everyone had been incredibly nice, and that local merchants had been extremely welcoming. Indeed, the owners of Arturo’s Pizzeria and The Able Baker each sent congratulatory bouquets of flowers.

Palmer’s Sweetery will be open every day except Monday. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
