Maplewood’s premiere street fair was back and sizzling hot this year as locals battled hot temps to enjoy cool treats and fun activities at MayFest on Springfield Avenue on Sunday, May 29.
Despite the rising thermometer, the bouncy houses were full, the petting zoo was thriving (in the shade), bands were playing, girls were dancing and the miniature train was wending its way up and down the Avenue.
Folks stayed cool with lemonade, iced coffee, fruit drinks, ice cream and just plain old water. Food vendors offered everything from funnel cake to fried chicken, crepes to corn dogs.
Local business were represented — from Gigi’s Cupcakes, to The Rack, to BCB Community Bank, Blue Life Karate, Lexann Pharmacy, LaChaney’s Dance & Music Academy, Inspirational Dance and more — as were local community groups and event producers like the South Mountain YMCA, Maplewood Chamber, Maplewoodstock and the Fourth of July Committee.
