It’s that time of year again.
Annually, some dude with questionable fashion sense named Waldo seems to get himself lost all over Maplewood — from Maplewood Village, to Springfield Avenue, to Ridgewood Road, to Valley Street.
Jonah Zimiles and his posse at Words Bookstore have made it their business to round up some search parties. Good citizens who want to help out can pick up a passport emblazoned with Waldo’s image at Words listing the 26 places where Waldo can be spotted.
Little sleuths who spy Waldo at these locations get their passports stamped by the businesses. After finding Waldo in 10 locations, they can return to Words for a Waldo button and a $1 Off Waldo Book Coupon (hurry! buttons only go to the first 125 Waldo spotters).
It all wraps up with a big celebration at 4 p.m. on July 29 at Words when Waldo has been found in all his locations. Snacks will be provided, activities will be on hand, and Waldo spotters who have found Waldo in at least 20 locations can enter their passport in a drawing to win prizes.
This year, Waldo can be found at 26 locations, including Words, Able Baker, Alchemy Hour, Bee & Thistle, Cedar Ridge, Framing Mill, Gigi’s Cupcakes, HLS Juice Bar, Hopscotch, Kokoro, Lotus Petals, Maplewood Karate, Maplewood Pizzeria, Maplewood Stationers, Maplewood Theater, Matters Magazine, No. 165, Park Wood Diner, Perch Home, Puppy Love, Roman Gourmet, Shenanigans Toys, Strawberry Fields, Truly Yours, Village Coffee Co., and Village Ice Cream Parlor.
