Award-winning author and musician Mary Amato combines two passions in her latest young-adult novels about songwriters, Get Happy and Guitar Notes. Her books chart new territory by providing readers with music to play and listen to online.
Book and music lovers can meet Amato and enter to win a free Luna ukulele. Amato will be signing in the [words] Bookstore booth at Maplewoodstock, in Maplewood Memorial Park:

Anyone attending the festival can enter for a chance to win the “Pearl” Luna ukulele and a signed copy of Amato’s book Get Happy. No purchase is necessary.
“My novels are about the power of music,” Amato says. “The characters in the books write songs to express their emotions, and both books contain the songs they write. After finishing the books, readers can hear the songs on my website, learn how to play them, and get tips for writing their own songs.”
Amato is a performing singer-songwriter as well an author. Her fiction, known for both humor and heart, has been translated into foreign languages, adapted for stage, optioned for TV, and won numerous awards. Her latest books encourage personal musical engagement and have prompted an outpouring of heart-felt fan mail from adults, teens, and tweens who started writing and sending Amato their own songs.

How Do I Enter?

• Fill out an entry form during hours listed above.
• One entry per person.
• Entries must be in by 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 12.
How is the Winner Announced?
• A winning entry will be drawn at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 12 in the booth.
• The winner, if not present, will be notified immediately by phone.
• The winner must be willing to pick up the prize package either at the Festival booth between 4:30-6:00 pm Sunday July 12 OR at [words] Bookstore within one week (by July 19 at 9pm).
• If the winner cannot do so or does not respond, another winner will be chosen and notified by phone and will have one week to pick up the prize package.
